Body-shaming is something I have to deal with every day. From the moment I wake up in the mornings, I do not feel like I'm an adequate example of beauty. I live in Miami, a city that focuses a lot on 'looks'. I've been turned down from jobs because I don't have bigger breasts, or because I'm not dressed more provocatively. I get very nervous whenever I have to apply for jobs because I feel that once they see me, I will not get the job. I try to not let it get to me, but it's difficult when your life depends on it. It's very sad. I know many qualified individuals that won't get jobs in the city because of the (at times) unrealistic beauty standards.
